SSD (Solid State Drive) enclosures are becoming the format of choice for OEM memory modules. They can be configured with Serial (SATA) or Parallel (PATA) Interfaces. JEDEC has standardized on the 1.8 SSD specifications but there is a wide variety of form factors available including a number of I/O options.

These can be built using cases much like PCMCIA cards or can be built with a casting to completely shield the memory module.
